Children's Book WeekThis annual event takes place in the first week of October and is now in it's 77th year. Schools in the UK should have received their free teachers resource pack, back in June. If you didn't receive yours, or can't locate it, you can download the free poster or download the free teachers resource guide which contains games and tips for Foundation, KS1 and KS2.

The theme for this years book week is Rhythm and Rhyme. One of the events being organised for book week is 'Pirates Ahoy', being held at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London on Friday October 10th. Children's Michael Rosen, children's laureatewriters are also on tour and can be seen at events around the country on various dates, giving talks and shows aimed at children.

Famous children's poet and author and children's laureate, Michael Rosen says "Children's Book Week is a great opportunity for everyone who cares about children’s books to fire up children to read and talk about books."

So if you haven't planned any specific events why not just make time this week to spend a little more time reading to your class, maybe a book that you have never read yourself before?
